Economic Development Incentives
Rate LPS (Light and Power Service - Small) The company is expanding the population of customers that would qualify to take electric service under Rate LPS by increasing the maximum demand allowed from 15 kilowatt (kW) to 20 kW. In addition, the maximum annual energy usage will rise from 18,000 kWh per year to 24,000 kWh per year.
- Incentive - qualified customers will benefit from the lower customer charge ($25/month) on LPS as compared to the $50/month on their current rates.
- Customers who currently qualify will be notified they may benefit from another rate option.
- The revised Rate LPS went into effect for June 2011 billings.
Rate Rider CRI
Community redevelopment incentives are intended to give customers a reduction in base rate charges for 12 months when they establish a new account in an existing building that has been unoccupied for at least six months.
- Incentive - 15 percent discount on monthly base rate charges, one-year customer service agreement commencing before Jan. 1, 2013
- Account must represent new load (merely switching locations does not qualify)
- Rate Rider CRI went into effect for July 2011 billings.
Rate Rider EDI
Load addition and job creation incentives are intended to give customers a reduction in base rate charges for 24 months when they provide new or additional load of at least 1,000 kilovoltampere (kVA) while adding new jobs.
- Incentive - 10 percent discount on monthly base rate charges for the first year, 5 percent for the second year, two-year contract term, commencing before Jan. 1, 2014
- Customer must satisfy the Alabama Department of Revenue criteria for receiving Capital Investment Tax Credits.
- Rate Rider EDI went into effect for May 2011 billings
