For more than a century, Alabama Power Company employees have been committed to serving our fellow Alabamians. And for nearly two decades, the Alabama Power Foundation has contributed to this legacy of caring by providing $115 million in grants to support nonprofit initiatives. While the current economic downturn has limited the grant funding available, the Foundation continues to invest in non-profit organizations that improve the lives of Alabamians and our communities.

Honoring its mission to strengthen the communities the company serves, the foundation focuses its efforts on organizations that support education, civic activities, health services, the environment and the arts. By supporting the state's educational system — from pre-K to universities — the foundation is investing in Alabama's future and the well-being of its residents.

Giving is not limited to traditional learning institutions; the foundation also assists technical training programs designed to address the state's need for a more skilled work force. The foundation shows its commitment to the growth of philanthropy in Alabama by encouraging a new generation of givers. As a result, philanthropic organizations working together can create economic and social change to improve the quality of life in Alabama for years to come.
