At the Alabama Power Foundation, we do a lot of things. We work to protect the environment. We prepare students for the workplace. We inform young people about our history. We revitalize urban forests. And the list goes on and on.
But when it comes right down to it, we work to make Alabama a better place.
Making Alabama a better place to live isn't just about dollars and cents. It's about helping people help themselves. About motivating, encouraging and inspiring them. The Foundation's many grants and initiatives are designed to do just that: help communities capitalize on their own strengths and seek new heights.

Education
Every year we seek new ways to help improve education in Alabama by supporting innovative programs and assisting teachers in their crucial responsibilities. Read our Grant Guidelines.
Communities
We believe that an informed and active population is key to a vibrant community. The Alabama Power Foundation prepares communities for economic development through its support of museums, neighborhood revitalization projects and historic restorations — projects that can spur additional private investment in underserved and underutilized communities. We encourage the diversity of our communities by supporting a wide range of programs that represent the multicultural population of our state.
Arts and culture
Lives are enriched through arts and humanities. The Foundation partners with local leaders to make visual and performing arts more accessible, to support libraries and to encourage greater understanding about the importance of culture to communities.
Environment
Protecting and expanding awareness about Alabama's unique and fragile environment is a major component of the Foundation's mission. We support a variety of environmental and educational initiatives involving schools, organizations and communities.
Health and Human Services
A healthy community is a strong community. The Foundation provides support for programs that will enhance the health, safety and well-being of our diverse populations. Concerns such as childhood obesity, providing health education and exams for our elementary school children and services for persons with disabilities are included in the wide variety of organizations we support.
