Martin Stakeholder

Upcoming Event - Martin Dam relicensing

As you know, last November we distributed the Martin relicensing Draft Study Plans for each of the five Martin Issue Groups (MIGs). These plans focus on resources that may be affected by the relicensing of the Martin Project and represent those studies that Alabama Power proposes to conduct during the relicensing process. We requested input on the Draft Study Plans and subsequently received comments from a number of stakeholders, and met with a few groups to better understand the intent and substance of their comments. As a result, we have made certain modifications to the Draft Study Plans.

In response to a number of requests from stakeholders, we will also be conducting an educational session on the morning of April 1st. The two topics to be discussed are 1) the Tallapoosa River hydrology and how inflows into the basin and discharges from the APC hydro units are managed, and 2) the modeling study utilized in evaluating Martin winter rule curve changes and the current status of that effort.

The schedule for the two days is as follows:

Tuesday April 1, 2008
9:00 AM – 9:15 AM  Welcome and Purpose of the Educational Session
9:15 AM – 10:15 AM  Presentation on the Tallapoosa Hydrological System
10:30 AM – 12:00 PM  Presentation on Rule Curve Modeling Analysis

As always, if you cannot attend these meetings, notes and meeting materials will be posted here on the Lake Martin Web site for your information and review.
