Mission Statements

A mission statement is the "vision" or goal of a group. It is usually developed at the beginning of a process or activity and serves as a guidepost for keeping a group focused on why they are working together and what they are trying to accomplish. The following are mission statements for the Warrior River Project Relicensing and Warrior Cooperative Relicensing Team.

Warrior Relicensing Mission Statement
"In relicensing the Warrior River Project on the Warrior River, pursuant to FERC's Alternative Licensing Procedures regulations, Alabama Power Company (APC) is pursuing a license that balances the benefits of developmental (e.g., power generation, flood control, system reliability, water users, etc.) and non-developmental resources (e.g., ecological and recreational, etc.). Stakeholders, including APC, are committed to working together to resolve issues in a manner that gives equal consideration to the developmental and non-developmental resources. Resolution of project issues will support a timely license issuance leading to the efficient and on-going communication and implementation of protection, enhancement and mitigation measures agreed to by APC and the stakeholders."

Warrior Cooperative Relicensing Team Mission Statement
"The mission of the WCRT is to provide a forum for discussing and resolving key issues related to relicensing of the Warrior River Project. The WCRT will focus on development of consensus-based recommendations regarding resource balancing and serve as the primary forum for any negotiated agreements."
