In addition to the joys of recreation that water offers us, it is truly the
lifeblood of fish and wildlife. Alabama Power encourages all stakeholders to work toward protecting
water quality at all of our lakes and rivers. And also why we take every opportuntity to educate and
encourage everyone who uses Alabama's waterways to appreciate, respect, and tread lightly on this
valuable natural resource.
Protecting the fish and wildlife that inhabit the areas has always been a top priority. Our efforts have met with excellent results and help several endangered species — such as the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker and Bald Eagle — that make their homes nearby.
Because fishing brings many visitors to the lake, Alabama Power is also active in helping provide habitat areas to encourage fish breeding.
