New England Boiled Dinner

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ham shank
  • 2 cups water
  • 5 small potatoes, halved
  • 5 small onions
  • 2 small turnips, cut into pieces
  • 5 medium carrots, cut into pieces
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut
  • Salt and pepper

Place meat in an electric frying pan with water and set the control to 240 degrees. Cover and cook until meat is tender, adding water if necessary. Add potatoes, onions, turnips, carrots and cabbage. Season with salt and pepper and cook until vegetables are done.
