Safe-T-Opolis is a FREE interactive program presented by specially trained Alabama Power employees. The program includes a demonstration of an electrical circuit that contains 11,000 volts of electricity and also features a fun video game!
The video game uses puzzles, character customizations, and hidden Easter Eggs to recreate hazardous situations so players can practice the lessons learned in Safe-T-Opolis. It also features a trivia game that tests students’ understanding of the Alabama Course of Study 4th grade Science Standards. The game is played as part of the Safe-T-Opolis program but can also be played by students and teachers later on, at home or at school. The game works for schools that are 1:1 and those that are not—all you need is a computer and an internet connection to play.
Safe-T-Opolis programs last about 45 minutes and can be presented at any date and time that is convenient for the teacher. We also now offer a virtual option, where we can present across a variety of platforms, including Google Meet, Zoom, Webex, GoTo and Microsoft Teams. The program meets educational standards for fourth graders in Alabama and is endorsed by the state Department of Education.
