Alabama Power exists to keep the lights on for you, your family, and our community. Our 6,100 employees live in the same towns, shop at the same stores, and face the same rising costs you do. That shared experience shapes how we think about our responsibility to you every day. 

I know that trust has to be earned, and that words matter less than actions. So let me share some of the actions we’ve taken and what that means for you.

We know that every dollar counts. Your rate has not changed since July 2025, and we are committed to holding it there through 2027. Keeping your bill stable while managing our own costs is a commitment we take very seriously. For context, more than 200 utilities across the Southeast charge higher rates than we do. 

Our system delivers power with 99% reliability, our power plants perform in the top 5% nationally, and two out of three outages are restored within two hours. We know that even one outage matters when it's your home or your business. That’s why we continue investing in our grid — more than 2,000 miles of fiber, real-time monitoring, and outage-prevention technology — because we know what’s at stake for you when the power goes out. 

When it comes to data centers, they pay the full cost to serve their needs so that families and businesses are protected. Data centers are responsible for their costs, not you. That is our approach in Alabama, and it will not change. 

None of this happens without the people who show up every day — climbing poles after storms, answering your calls, volunteering in your communities, and making decisions with your family in mind. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
