WARMER DAYS: Colder spots across Alabama are at the freezing mark early this morning, but this will be the last morning with a freeze for at least the next 7-10 days as the upper air pattern shifts. Expect mostly sunny days, fair nights, and a warming trend through the weekend. Highs will be in the 67-70 degree range today for most communities, followed by low to mid 70s tomorrow through Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday are looking mostly dry and mild with highs holding in the 70-75 degree range. Global models are now suggesting the next decent rain event for the state will come in the Wednesday-Thursday time frame, followed by drier air on Friday.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Saturday Alabama will host Oklahoma at Bryant-Denny Stadium/Saban Field (2:30 p.m. kickoff) … the sky will be partly to mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
UAB hosts North Texas Saturday at Protective Stadium in downtown Birmingham (1 p.m. kickoff). The weather will be dry and mild with temperatures in the 70-74 degree range.
ON THIS DATE IN 1970: The deadliest tropical cyclone ever recorded, and one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern times occurred on this day in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. The Bhola Cyclone first formed over the Bay of Bengal on Nov. 8 and traveled north. This cyclone reached peak intensity, Category 3, on the 11th, and made landfall on the coast of East Pakistan the following afternoon. The Bhola Cyclone killed an estimated 500,000 people.
