In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center will host the Haute Pink Fashion Show on Friday, Oct. 3, at Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham.

The event highlights the one in eight women and one in 1,000 men in Alabama diagnosed with breast cancer.

To inspire and remember those impacted by breast cancer, Haute Pink features 11 Alabamians affected by breast cancer, with models shining in custom pink outfits by local designers. Proceeds support breast cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and their loved ones in Alabama.

Haute Pink model JoAnna Brown, an executive assistant at Alabama Power, was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2021 following an annual mammogram. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy. Brown noted that everyone’s journey is different. During her treatments, she was unaware of Forge and its services, which she would have used.

“My heart went out to people as I went through it,” Brown said. “I thought, ‘There must be an organization out there that can help people along their journey, that’s not for profit.’” She learned about Forge only after her treatment.

The models, listed first, are paired with local designers:

  • Ashley Baxter — Megan Dean.
  • JoAnna Brown — Maria Montoya.
  • Jordan Collins — Sara Cox.
  • Tiarra Hooks — Aaliyah Taylor.
  • Linda Holmes — Marilyn Locke.
  • Helen Krontiras — Mykola Vyshyvanyuk.
  • Angie Maxwell — Kenya Buchanan.
  • Dinely Nunez — Ericka Murdock.
  • Libby Schropp — Kendra Weeks.
  • Heather Silmon — Karnisia Hicks.
  • Angie Cameron Smith — Julie Maeseele.

Brown became a Forge board member and now promotes the organization’s benefits, which ease life for patients during and after treatment.

“I started going to events, and it made it full circle for me, how much impact we are making in the lives of these women,” Brown said.

Purchase the $100 tickets here. Attendees can partake in heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts and two specially created drinks from a Sol Y Luna mixologist. During the show, they can buy a raffle ticket to be eligible to win exclusive gifts.

Forge’s mission is to support, empower and improve medical access, health outcomes and quality of life for Alabama breast cancer patients and survivors, including their loved ones, from diagnosis onward.

Alabama Power and the Alabama Power Foundation are presenting sponsors of Haute Pink.
