Lake Martin Fall Extension Somewhat Likely

As of September 9, 2025, the Lake Martin Fall Extension is under review. Current conditions and rainfall patterns make it somewhat likely to occur this month.

We are closely monitoring conditions to determine if changes will allow us to implement the extension of summer pool levels. The drawdown process, outlined in our Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license, is carefully designed to unfold over several months to ensure minimal impact on the lake environment and typically concludes in mid-November.

If the extension is not implemented, we continuously monitor conditions throughout the drawdown process to allow for adjustments as needed. Last year, early September conditions did not support an extension, but changes that occurred later in the month enabled the fall extension to be implemented to maintain higher water levels longer. We remain adaptable to any changes to manage the lake effectively.

Alabama Power will keep you updated with weekly reports throughout September.

Alabama Power encourages people with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities to pay close attention to the changing conditions on the lake, remain mindful of personal safety and be prepared to take necessary steps to protect their property.
