Lawson State Community College is slated to launch a dynamic new initiative aimed at equipping Birmingham residents with top-tier customer service skills. The Customer Service Professionals (CSP) Program, an eight-week workforce development course, will begin this September and is designed to prepare participants for success in customer-facing roles across various industries.
Developed in partnership with leading organizations, including Alabama Power, ALFA, ASK Telemarketing, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Protective Life, Regions, Rx Benefits and Spire, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on:
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will run from September 9 through October 30 at Lawson State’s Birmingham campus (Building B, 3060 Wilson Road SW).
“The Customer Service Professionals Program was developed in direct response to employer needs, focusing on developing individuals who are not only technically capable but also confident, communicative, and customer focused,” said Grant Cockrell, Lawson State’s dean of Career Technical Education and Workforce Development. “Through Lawson State Community College’s commitment to industry-driven education, the program combines real world insight with quality instruction to build a strong pipeline of talent prepared to step into today’s customer service roles and contribute immediately.”
Applications are open from August 1-15 and can be submitted online via this link. Scholarships are available for individuals in need, including veterans and people with disabilities. Spaces are limited and filling up quickly, so interested candidates are encouraged to apply now.
