About the Training Center

“One of a kind” is a phrase often used to describe our HVAC Training Center. Located in Jasper, Alabama, the state-of-the-art facility has provided training, professional development and continuing education to over 38,000+ participants from 45 states and three countries since 1986.

In 2017, Alabama Power and Bevill State Community College formed a partnership to help provide workforce development and economic growth for Alabama. 52 industry partners have also participated in the development of this one-of-a-kind training center

The 53,000 square foot building houses an auditorium, five classrooms, computer laboratory and seven laboratories. The building is equipped with Heat Pump Lab, Dual Fuel Heat Pump Lab, Geothermal/Water Heating Lab, Mini Split Lab, Brazing Lab, Simulator Lab, Demonstration House and Duct Fabrication Lab. The facility features 52 new trainers and 17 portable split system trainers for tasks such as rewiring electrical systems and re-piping refrigerant systems. Simulators with internally-metered devices to reflect time and proper troubleshooting procedures measure participant’s ability to repair potential problems. The training center’s staff has modified the units, so participants can address virtually any technical, electrical, refrigerant or air-related questions.

In addition, the center conducts classes on proper procedures in areas of load calculations, duct design, right suite, duct board fabrication and blower door and duct blower testing, as well as Alabama HACR Contractor Exam Review, EPA Section 608 Review and Testing, and NATE Review and Testing. Our facility offers the most current equipment supplemented by hands-on performance-based training.
