The pandemic was a huge setback for many schools in Alabama, but at Greensboro Middle School it left the team’s football equipment unusable and unsafe.
Alabama Power encouraged the school to pursue a Power to Play grant through the Alabama Power Foundation and now the pads are slapping (safely) again in Greensboro.
“Greensboro is a community with pride and heart, and these students deserve every opportunity to play the game they love safely,” said Susie Harris, Community Relations manager with Alabama Power’s Western Division. “Through the Alabama Power Foundation, we’re proud to help Greensboro Middle School get the safe, updated equipment their athletes need. In many rural Black Belt communities, resources are limited, but the spirit of the students and families is strong. This grant is one way we can stand with them and invest in their future.”
This video is part of the Shine Bright series, demonstrating how Alabama Power doesn’t just power communities but is a part of them.
