8 items to buy for your storm emergency kit during the sales tax holiday

No matter the season, if we’ve learned anything so far this year, severe weather can hit Alabama anytime. Take advantage of the Alabama Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday to save money and stock up on the supplies you need when unpredictable weather strikes. The holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 21, and ends at midnight on Sunday, February 23.

Here’s a list of tax-free essentials to build your emergency kit and ensure you and your family are prepared:

1) Batteries: to power your flashlights, radios and other devices.

2) Phone Chargers & Portable Chargers: to stay connected during an outage.

3) Flashlights & Lanterns: to keep the lights on if the power goes out, while we work hard to get you back up and running as fast as possible.

4) NOAA Weather Radio: to stay informed about weather updates.

5) Plywood & Window Protection: to board up windows if protection is needed.

6) Tarpaulin & Plastic Sheeting: to cover items and seal leaks if needed.

7) Rope, Bungee Cords and Duct Tape: to secure items around your home or car.

8) First Aid Kit: to always be prepared in case of an emergency.
