Alabama Power’s Workforce and Training team recently hosted an event focused on deepening its relationship with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS). The collaboration continues to strengthen inclusive employment opportunities and expand workforce development across Alabama.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for both organizations to better understand each other’s operations and goals. ADRS employees gained insights into Alabama Power’s business functions and the types of careers available, while the company’s Workforce Development and Talent Acquisition teams learned more about the individuals ADRS serves – Alabamians with disabilities who seek meaningful employment. This partnership helps connect those individuals with roles that align with their interests and abilities.
The day began with a warm welcome from Nicole Faulk, senior vice president of Occupational and Environmental Affairs, who emphasized Alabama Power’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace for all. Jonathan Porter, senior vice president of Customer Operations, followed with a message of appreciation, recognizing the shared dedication to empowering employees and strengthening communities.
Bobbi Stephenson, director of ADRS’s Business Relations Program, shared insights into the organization’s mission and its vital role in helping Alabamians with disabilities succeed in the workforce. Tom McNeal, manager of Workforce Development Programs at Alabama Power, expressed optimism about the continued success of the partnership and the opportunities it creates for both organizations.
Together, Alabama Power and ADRS are working to build a more inclusive workforce – one that opens doors, expands opportunities and helps individuals across Alabama achieve their full potential.
“Bringing the ADRS team members together from across the state to learn more about different parts of the company – and how we can continue making an impact together for the people we serve every day – really speaks to the power of partnerships and collaboration,” said Stevie Searcy, director of Workforce Development & Training at Alabama Power.
“The partnership between Alabama Power and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation’s Business Relations Program is a collaborative effort to increase the employment of individuals with disabilities through workforce strategies,” Stephenson said. “The Business Relations Team appreciated the opportunity to tour the company’s Customer Service Center and Mailroom to learn the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to prepare qualified candidates for employment at Alabama Power. We thank Tom McNeal and Angelia Hale for hosting a wonderful day that will continue a long partnership to help individuals with disabilities reach their maximum potential.”
