BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Patrick Murphy has been named vice president of Economic Development at Alabama Power, effective Aug. 1.
As vice president of Economic Development, Murphy will lead economic development efforts across the state, supporting new and expanding industry and helping communities of all sizes enhance their prospects for economic growth. Murphy most recently served as vice president of the Mobile Division, representing the division through external and community affairs, implementing growth initiatives that generate revenue through sales, economic development and community development.
Murphy has held positions of increasing responsibilities within Marketing and Economic and Community Development at Alabama Power. Prior to joining the company, Murphy was the senior vice president of Economic Development for the Birmingham Business Alliance.
A graduate of Auburn University, Murphy sits on numerous boards and belongs to many civic organizations, such as the Auburn Research and Technology Foundation, Mobile Infirmary Health Systems Board, Industrial Development Board for the City of Mobile, Coastal Alabama Partnership, Regions Mobile Advisory Board, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, University of South Alabama President’s Cabinet and Alabama Power Foundation Board. Murphy is the past president of the Economic Development Association of Alabama.
