We manage 14 hydro facilities along the Coosa, Tallapoosa and Black Warrior rivers with more than 3,500 miles of shoreline and nearly 120,000 acres of land. Our team of shoreline managers works closely with communities surrounding the reservoirs to protect and enhance the scenic, recreational and environmental resources these lakes offer. We also work to meet the needs of individual, industrial and organizational stakeholders by permitting shoreline structures and promoting best shoreline management practices. The Preserves are undeveloped lands around our lakes and will remain in a natural state for generations to come. They feature hiking trails, picnic areas, fishing piers, playgrounds, boat launches and resting spots for everyone to enjoy. Our goal is to make the water and activities around our lakes inclusive and available to everyone.

Renew Our Rivers began in 2000 as a community river cleanup organized by Alabama Power employees from Plant Gadsden concerned about litter found along the Coosa River. Today, Renew Our Rivers is one of the nation’s largest river cleanups. With the help of local community partners, volunteers and organizations, Alabama Power has coordinated more than 104,000 volunteers and removed more than 13.5 million pounds of trash from Alabama waterways.
