Alabama Power is seeking proposals for renewable energy projects as part of a biennial process required by the Alabama Public Service Commission.
The request for proposals (RFP) is open through Aug. 17th and invites independent developers to submit projects located in Alabama and connected to the company’s grid. Eligible projects may include solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, biomass, and other qualifying renewable or low-impact energy resources, and must be no larger than 200 megawatts.
The RFP process helps evaluate new opportunities to ensure any selected projects provide value, reliability and overall customer benefit.
Developers identify and secure project sites and invest private capital to build and operate facilities. These projects can support local economies through construction jobs and new tax revenue for schools and public services. Alabama Power evaluates proposals based on cost, reliability and customer value and may enter agreements to purchase energy from selected projects, subject to regulatory approval.
