Council on Culture and Inclusion (CCI)

For more than a century, Alabama Power employees have worked to develop the strong culture enjoyed today, but we want to continue to work to strengthen our company culture and enhance the employee experience.

We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion, through workforce representation and leveraging the talents of all employees, leads to greater team collaboration and responsiveness to the needs of our customers.

The Council on Culture and Inclusion (CCI) was developed to focus the company’s efforts of diversity, equity and inclusion. Through the CCI, we’re working to ensure all employees are valued, engaged, respected and treated fairly.

Education

Developing our team is a priority. We’re committed to offering training, tools and resources for career development and fostering an inclusive work environment.

Engagement

The CCI regularly provides opportunities for company leaders and employees to engage in open dialogue and relationship building.

Communication

We believe consistent communication is key to a positive employee experience and provide resources and information for employees to grow in their understanding of our industry and the communities we serve.

Partnership

The CCI works to provide opportunities for underrepresented communities, including recruitment of new and diverse talent through the expansion of workforce development programs across the state.

Progression

We are working to prevent biases and barriers throughout the talent journey, including recruiting effectiveness, work environment and pay data.

The Value of an Inclusive Workplace

“Alabama Power was built for the service of the state and we know that for our team to be the best it can be, we’ve got to continuously strengthen our company culture. An inclusive workplace – where all employees are valued, respected and treated fairly – increases employee engagement, ultimately helping us better serve our customers and leading to sustained operational success.”

– Jeff Peoples, Executive Vice President of Customer and Employee Services
